Nearest pub to the Olympic Stadium?
|
Is there anything closer than the Carpenters Arms, Stratford which (according to google maps) is a 10 mins walk away from the OS?

Did you not feel capable of asking this simple question on one of the OS theads?

As the Crow flies, the Plough at Swan Wharf, though it's a pretty dull bar even by the standards of hipster bars and it wont be there that long as theyve just got planning permission to redevelop it.

There's a bar just down from the Cow called Bat & Ball. One of these themed bars with table tennis rooms at the back, however they have a decent sized bar and from memory a few decent beers on tap.
Do a lovely Espresso Martini which would go down amazingly before kick off is going to be amazing.

The Carpenters will be the football pub.
I go past it sometimes and it's empty. Without the OS it would have shut years ago, I reckon they are hanging on for us lot to arrive.

For the Wolves and Liverpool cup games, I tried The Little Driver in Bow for the first few beers. Great little pub right next to Bow Rd station for the underground and Bow Church for the DLR, one stop from Pudding Mill Lane. Not too far and not too close.

Is there a decent pub near West Ham tube station.... could be a good place to have a drink and then walk to the OS via the Greenway and avoid crowds.
Or a decent pub between WH tube and the OS?

I used to live near that pub (more towards Roman Road) and used to frequent this place a lot back then particularly on a match day. I remember before we had even thought about the OS I used to ask the manager how come it was so dead in there considering the amount of passing trade from Bow Church DLR to Bow Road tube. She told me cause its on the wrong side of the road people can't be bothered to go over there.
They must be rubbing there hands now!
Nice little garden out the back of that place as well.

I bet the landlord of the Carpenters can't fucking wait until the 13th August. Rubbing his hands in glee.
I wonder if he'll bother hiring any more bar staff for matchdays, though....
